Volunteer Instructor Training Weekend

DC Sail's adult lessons are taught by highly trained, local Volunteer Instructors.  

DC Sail Volunteer Instructors receive a special membership rate of only $100 for 12 months, with all the perks of a Super Membership, in exchange for providing two "Shifts" per month from April through October.  Adult Beginner Learn to Sail Lessons take place from 10AM to 1:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays during the sailing season.  

Requirements for becoming a Volunteer Instructor:

• Relevant sailing experience
• Successful completion of a NASBLA approved boat safety course (in your state)
• Ability to swim 75 yards while fully clothed
• Ability to exhibit appropriate interpersonal skills  
• Participate in DC Sail training sessions
• Become a DC Sail member at the Instructor rate  
  
• A great attitude, love to share sailing knowledge and skills, and a desire to have fun!

• US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 Instructor Certification
• US Sailing Safe Powerboat Handling Certification
• Current CPR and First Aid Certifications  

DC Sail hosts an intensive training weekend for our Volunteer Instructors, giving you all the information and skills necessary to join 

Volunteer Instructor Training Weekend:

Saturday & Sunday, March 29th and March 30th

• Mandatory Attendance for New DC Sail Volunteer Instructors.  
• Returning Volunteer Instructors are encouraged to attend as there will be slight modifications in our 2014 Lesson Curriculum. 
• Time: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
• Lunch will be provided.
