Members Only Sails

As we are able to resume programming, we have temporarily postponed the shared usage of DC Sail life jackets as part of our health, safety, and sanitation  protocols at the guidance of US Sailing, CDC, and local health authorities.  Members will be required to bring your own life jacket for the balance of the 2020 sailing season. Suggested life jacket suggested resources are posted on the home page.

IMPORTANT: New registration requirements for 2020 to comply with our COVID-19 Health Precaution Policies:

Advanced online registration will be required by members to attend the Members Only Sails in order to maintain a reduced number of personnel on the docks and for COVID-19 Contact Tracing, should it be necessary.

Registration will open on the day of the event at 12:00 Noon. Please only register if you are 100% committed that you’ll attend as you’ll be taking the space from another member once we reach capacity. Registration will close at 4:00 PM on the day of the event. Please use the link in the red box below to register.

Face Coverings/Masks will be mandatory on the docks and while sailing.

Cost: Free for members of DC Sail.

Where: Members Only Sails are hosted at our Diamond Teague Park Piers location. Address is 99 Potomac Avenue SE, Washington, DC 20003. Marina Directions can be found by clicking here. Scroll down for link to map for Diamond Teague Park Piers. Look for the large banners on the fencing at the dock entrance.

Dock Managers will assign members to boats with experienced DC Sail skippers and assist with crew assignments.

Email Traci Mead, Acting Executive Director with questions.

Weather & Cancellation: Please monitor the weather prior to coming to the docks. For safety, we will close dock operations in the event of thunderstorms in the area within 15 miles and/or when there is an extended forecast for the threat of heavy weather, high winds or no wind situations and in extreme heat.

If the weather forecast is not reflecting clear and safe sailing conditions, it is likely the event will be cancelled.

While we typically send a notice of cancellation to confirmed registrants as well as post and update to our home page, Facebook, and Twitter accounts about an hour prior to the 5:30 PM start time, there are occasions where the weather causes a last-minute cancellation of the event. Dock Manager may also cancel the event if the weather becomes dangerous once the boats have launched.

Please note there will be no Members Sail on Monday, September 7th (Labor Day Federal Holiday.)
