Dock Manager (Multiple Positions)

DC Sail is seeking multiple Dock Managers to help manage our adult programs.  This is a great seasonal position for someone who loves boating and wants to enjoy the DC spring, summer, and early fall seasons on the water!

Title: Dock Manager

Wage Range: $19 to $25 per hour depending on certifications, experience, tenure, etc.

(This is considered a part-time seasonal position with no benefits.)

Location: Diamond Teague Park Piers, 99 Potomac Avenue SE, Washington, DC 20003.

Hours: Weekends from 8:30-5:30 PM (split into shifts) from April - October. Monday (Members Only Sails), Wednesday (Social Sails), and Thursday (Racing) evenings 5:00 PM to sunset. Commitment to all available shifts is not required but would be given priority consideration.

Supervises: All DC Sail sailboats, motorboats, and DC Sail members

Purpose: To ensure the safety of the DC Sail boats while they are out sailing and oversight of Adult Beginner Learn to Sail Program on weekends.

Duties Include:

• Setting up for morning instruction on weekends
• Directing instructors and lesson participants
• Assuring Waiver of Liability Forms are properly processed and filed
• Monitoring weather conditions and communications to members when cancellation of programs due to severe weather
• Maintaining the boat maintenance log
• Preparing the motorboats for the day
• Towing sailboats in and out of the marina using a motor boat
• Monitoring sailboats while they are at sail
• Assisting with general fleet and facility maintenance
• Closing down the facility at the end of the day
• Lending a hand wherever help is needed

Mandatory Requirements:

• Current CPR/First Aid
• Powerboat & sailboat experience
• US Sailing Level 1 Instructor Certification
